Dramatic Sky.

I couldn't make up my mind whether or not to post this photograph. It was taken yesterday, close to home, looking out of the car window over the River Dee estuary. It was taken on the iPhone 4S and unfortunately isn't particularly sharp and appears rather grainy. It is however, an amazing sky and I'm glad that I captured it. I just wish I'd had my DSLR and tripod with me.

I posted a version of it on Instagram and Posterous. The version was cropped to a square format and converted to a sepia tinted monochrome.

This is the original image, with no modifications.

Hope you like it.

I love it! It is so dramatic. You can almost feel the power of nature in it. Some of your nature shots are amazing! You're lucky you don't know my father. He would have you out snapping birds every minute of the day! then just spend hours upon hours looking at them :)

I do like it.....i wondered at first if you had used a long exposure to get that effect.I have treated myself to a ND4 filter ( couldn't afford the ND10 ) so that i can play with long exposure photography

Hello Peter,
It was actually quite dark overhead, and late afternoon, so there was no need to use ND filters.
The shot was taken on the new iPhone 4S. The exposure was 1/140th sec. at f 2.4, ISO 64.
The focal length of the lens is only 4.3mm which pretty well assures that everything from the end of your nose to the horizon is in focus.
Thanks for your comment.
